The first step is to take a hard look at your existing clothing. Clean out your closet and sort in piles starting with the keep pile, which should be hung back into your closet. Discard the things that are damaged and in the last pile put the donate items. Things that don’t fit should go into the donate pile. Allow someone else to use the items that don’t fit properly.
You should be able to pinch and inch on your clothing. This allows for movement and that nasty five pounds we women have every month.
Look at the color of your closet. Are these colors becoming to your skin and hair coloring? If you aren’t sure think back on the comments you have received from friends and co-workers. Are they speaking of the clothing or the fact that the color brings out your eyes, cheeks, or other facial features. We are striving for the latter. You can wear cloths or have the cloths wear you. By that I am referring to the eyes going to the garment instead of your face.
Below the waist should have the least number of clothing items. These items should be in a few basic colors. By doing this you will have a larger number of tops which allows you to have a larger wardrobe by changing the tops and allowing the bottoms to remain the same.
Take an inventory of your existing items. Do you need to add to this season’s line of clothing? If so, make a list and stick to it! This makes shopping an easier quest. If you love this season’s latest have to have items please limit this to two things. These usually go out of fashion very quickly and you will need to put them in the give away pile in a few years. You can still look smashing with only two WOW things.
Shoes are the next items of discussion. Your shoes should be changed every day, this allows the shoe to breath and go back to the original shape. This will also make the shoes last three times longer than wearing the same pair every day. Make sure the color compliments the slacks or skirts in your closet.
Jewelry should be selected to compliment your skin type. If you have a yellow undertone gold is the way to go, with clothing color choices in brown, orange and yellow. If you have a pink rosy coloring silver is your choice, with clothing color choices in blue, red, purple and green.
Allow yourself to stay abreast of the latest cosmetic changes. Magazines are full of new and exciting ways to apply the latest colors to bring the viewers eye to your best facial feature. Beware, not all cosmetic clerks know what they are doing, be cautious. Go armed with a little knowledge gleaned from magazines. Making suggestions to steer the clerk in the direction you think you should go. Please explain your working situation so she can assist you in the proper path. If you don’t like her suggestions please let her know, she is armed with a lot of tools to make you look your best.
Handbags and purses can make a lovely statement and a finishing touch. You have two choices, make a loud statement or have it blend with the shoes and bottom portion of your clothing. Your handbag can make the outfit a statement of beauty.
By following these suggestions you will make your own personal statement and stay on top of the beauty scene. Have fun on your next shopping trip!
